Local MP Backs Local Life Savers
The St John Ambulance “Save A Life September” campaign rolled into Tamworth this week with the support of local MP Christopher Pincher.
The campaign, which is designed to raise people’s awareness of first aid techniques and give us all the confidence to go to the aid of someone in need rather than waiting for a professional, could make a big impact on the 140,000 deaths which occur each year because there was no one on hand to deliver first aid. They St John Ambulance team were on hand in the Ankerside Shopping Centre on Tuesday 17th September to advise shoppers and their families.
Christopher Pincher said, “The work of the St John Ambulance is really very important. They are always there in the background at local events from concerts to festivals in the Castle Grounds. They provide much needed assistance to people every day and, yes, they save lives.
“Aid techniques are being improved all the time so it is important that people find out what they can do to help people in urgent need. I am very pleased St John Ambulance came to Tamworth this week, as well as other towns in the Midlands such as Worcester and Telford, to promote their campaign.
“Thanks to local St John Ambulance staff Carolyn from Atherstone, Emma from Dudley and Will from Sutton Coldfield for distributing up to 1000 information leaflets to local residents and for running resuscitation demonstrations in the town centre.”
