Tamworth’s MP Welcomes Latest Crime Statistics
Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth, welcomed the latest Office of National Statistics records which show a dramatic reduction in the number of crimes committed in Tamworth.
The number of burglaries is down by 23%, arson down 44%m sexual offences down 18%, whilst the number of vehicle thefts is down 35% in the 12 months from September 2012 to September 2013.
Christopher Pincher said, “These figures continue the downward trend of crime levels both locally and nationally. The dramatic decreases in crime levels is further evidence of the hard work being put in by our Police and Crime Commissioner, Mathew Ellis but more importantly by our local bobbies on the streets. The increased police presence on our streets in Tamworth is clearly having a positive effect on crime prevention.
“It is so important that we feel safe in our local community and this is further evidence that police in Tamworth are doing a good job keeping our streets clean of crime.”
