UK Unemployment Falls Again
The number of people out of work in the UK fell by 125,000 to 2.34 million in the three months to December, compared with 2,51 million that were out of work when the Conservative led Government came to power in May 2010.
The Office for National Statistics also said the number of people claiming jobseeker’s allowance last month fell by 27,600 to 1.22 million, which is also lower than the 1.52 million people that were claiming unemployment benefit in May 2010.
The rate of unemployment in the UK now stands at 7.2%.
Meanwhile, average earnings increased by 1.1% in the year to December, a 0.2% increase on the previous month.
