Christopher Pincher Urges Participation in Policing Consultation

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Christopher Pincher, Member of Parliament for Tamworth, urges residents to participate in the online survey for front line policing and police priorities. The consultation is part of an inquiry into the new landscape of policing recently launched by the Home Affairs Select Committee to learn what the public think the police should prioritise in the future.

To participate, please visit http://forums.parliament.uk/policing-priorities-poll/ and register to participate in the survey. Consultations must be submitted by the 17th June in order to be considered.  Additionally, residents may submit written evidence to the inquiry by e-mailing homeaffcom@parliament.uk or in person to the Office of Christopher Pincher MP at 23 Albert Road, Tamworth, B79 7JS, who will submit on residents’ behalf.

Mr Pincher comments:

“I am pleased to see that the Home Affairs Select Committee will be consulting with the public on these important reforms.  I have written several letters to the Police Minister and had meetings with the Home Secretary in Parliament and even 10 Downing Street to effectively raise the concerns of Tamworth residents who have written to me on this topic. I encourage residents to take this opportunity to voice their opinion directly to the Committee on the role of police and their views on proposed reforms.”

The inquiry will result in a report that makes recommendations to the Government about the future of policing.
